May 01-03 2014, Various times
The Leiden International Short Film Experience (LISFE) returns for its sixth edition to present a variety of selections from the short-film genre and an accompanying side programme at Scheltema in Leiden!
Since 2009, the LISFE has become an annual event that takes place in the historic inner city of Leiden.
Attracting a combination of Dutch locals, foreign students, expats and visitors from abroad, all of the films are screened in English or with accompanying subtitles.
The goal of the festival is to highlight some of the most creative and experimental selections from the world of short-cinema.
Along with an international jury and multicultural managing team, the festival is more than just a series of screenings.
These organisers also work to compile an engaging side-programme and workshops that will allow visitors to be further immersed and better understand the world of short film.
The LISFE 2014 edition will again feature the official competition and associated selections from the thematic categories erotic, sci-fi, experimental, travel, propaganda and animation.
The 2014 jury members include Mardou Jacobs, Wytze Koppelman and Mirjam Van Veelen.
Furthermore, as the LISFE encourages visitors to consider the entire film experience, they will also be hosting a series of Cineconcerts performed by artists Bjørn Uyens, Hannah Driesse and Templo Diez showing the importance of music and scoring in cinema.
Other activities happening during the three days include an exhibition curated by Minja Sarovic on SUB071 (a non-profit underground venue in Leiden) which the audience can visit between screenings, a do-it-yourself workshop on VHS and a conference organised by the European Communication Research and Education Association PhilCom around the theme of "Short Film Experience."
